Test your clothing care knowledge

Take a moment to test your clothing care knowledge with these two clothing care quizes. The answers to each quiz are located below

1. When you change out of your expensive new shirt, you:

a. Leave it on the floor or drape it on a chair. You’ll hang it up later.
b. Hang it up immediately in the closet.
c. You examine the shirt immediately for stains and wear-and-tear that may have occurred during the course of your day and then hang it up.

2. After wearing a suit for a few times, you:

a. Put it back in the closet. It’s good for a few more wears. Besides, you heard that too much dry cleaning shortens the life of a garment.

b. “Freshen” it with a home dry cleaning kit. You don’t want to go overboard on actual dry cleaning.

c. Take it to your dry cleaner. Frequent cleaning prolongs the life of a garment.

3. If you spill gravy, sauce, or wine on your shirt, would you:

a. Pour water directly onto the stain and rub it vigorously until it comes out?
b. Saturate your napkin with water and try to rub the stained area?
c. Slightly dampen your napkin and try to gently blot out the stain?

4. When you use deodorant/antiperspirants or perfumes, you:

a. Spray or apply them after you have put on your clothes.
b. Mist them in the air and then step into the mist.
c. Put them on your body a few minutes prior to dressing, allowing them to absorb into your skin.

5. It’s almost time to store your summer clothes. When you put them into hibernation, you:

a. Pack them in a chest as is––clean or not. You won’t be wearing them for six months so why worry about cleaning them now?
b. Have all garments cleaned before storing them either in a well-ventilated area at home or in your dry cleaners storage facility (such as “Anton’s Closet)?

Scoring: a = 1 point; b = 2 points; c = 3 points
