On April 18, 2009, the Simmons College Holmes Sports Center
was transformed into an elegant boutique. With the help of volunteer
personal shoppers, over 350 girls found the perfect
gown.
Filled with excitement, the participants also had the opportunity
to spend time receiving personal tips on the hottest prom looks
from Mary Kay consultant, Kathryn Corley, and have their photograph
taken by Joan Ross Photography of Danvers, MA.
As an added treat, Ayla Brown who reached the top 12 on American
Idol in 2006, volunteered as a personal shopper at the boutique.
Throughout the day many prizes were raffled off, including gift
certificates to local hair and skin care salons, an autographed
Red Sox baseball, and sterling silver jewelry. Participants also
received gift bags of makeup and hair supplies, thanks to our
generous In-Kind partners.
Showered with individual attention, each girl left feeling like
the Belle of the Ball.
The day was a huge success, thanks to the hard work of our volunteers
and the commitment of all of our Partners.
Here is a sampling of the reactions to the day:

“Every once in a while you get to step out of your own
world and make a difference in someone else’s life. Belle of the Ball
allows our team of fashion consultants to do just
that on a whole new level. Thank you for allowing us to participate
in such a unique and special day.”

“I love my dress! The personal shopper was really nice
and helpful and now I’m comfortable going to my prom. Thank
you.”

“I wanted to take a moment to thank you for putting together
such an unbelievable meaningful event. I was approached by so
many women as well as the girls that were nervous and thrilled
over the fact that they were actually picking out a gown for
their prom.
“In particularly 2 mothers cried and said their daughters
would never have the opportunity to go to the prom as they just
cannot afford any of the extras in life.
“Paying it Forward is the most generous gift one can give,
and I really respect and appreciate all of your efforts in
bringing this event to fruition, and for the 5th year.”
