The 2012 collection period will be February 1st - April 1st.
Sponsored by Anton's Cleaners, a family-owned chain of 43 stores in Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, Belle of the Ball cleans and distributes prom dresses to high school junior and senior girls who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend their school's prom. Since the program began in 2005, more than 1,875 girls have received beautiful dresses.
On Saturday, April 16th, the Simmons College Holmes Sports Center became a vibrant boutique with over 400 girls "shopping" for a beautiful gown, shoes, jewelry and makeup. Volunteer personal shoppers accompanied the girls on the quest for the perfect dress, shoes and accessories.
Showered with individual attention, each girl had the opportunity to spend time receiving personal tips on the hottest prom looks from Mary Kay consultant Kathryn Corley, Empire Beauty Schools, and have their photograph taken in their prom gown by Joan Ross Photography of Danvers, MA.
Throughout the day over 60 prizes were raffled off, including gift certificates to local hair and skin care salons and limousine services, thanks to our generous In-Kind partners.
Among the personal shoppers were special guests, Pebbles, JAM'N 94.5; Tyisha Fernandes, FOX25; Norissa Morse, former Miss Teen Maine; and the Bruins Ice Girls.
All gowns are cleaned free of charge by Anton's Cleaners. The 2011 collection drive, which ran from February 1 to April 1, saw over 5,500 'gently worn gowns' donated. Referral partners prequalify all girls who attend the boutique.
The proof of what the boutique means to these young women is in their photos. Take a moment and visit our boutique day pages. Their smiles and vivacity tell it all.
Thank you to the many volunteers, supporting, promotional, collection and in-kind partners that have helped make this program a success.
